FIFA 3DO
FIFA International Soccer for the 3DO system from EA Sports was widely hailed as the most realistic sports game in history.
In its January 1995 issue, Die Hard Game Fan awarded FIFA International Soccer as 1994 “Soccer Game of the Year,” while the Dec. 12, 1994 issue of Sports Illustrated gave it a stunning review for being, “simply the best sports video game ever made.”
Computer Player magazine declared FIFA International Soccer for 3DO the “Best Sports Game” for 1994, with a “Perfect 10” rating in its January 1995 issue, only the second time in the publication’s history that it has given a title its highest possible score.
Game Players magazine applauded FIFA with its “Ultimate Award.”
In its premiere issue, NEXT Generation magazine gave FIFA International Soccer its “Revolutionary” rating, the publication’s highest honour awarded to titles that are “brilliantly conceived and flawlessly executed; a new high-water mark.”
The January 1995 issue of VideoGames magazine gives FIFA a “Mega-Hit 10” rating and reports, “You’ve never seen a sports game like this!“
Demolition Man 3DO
Demolition Man from Virgin Interactive Entertainment took Die Hard Game Fan‘s 1994 “Movie Translation Game of the Year” award.
A popular action game based on the motion picture, Demolition Man on 3DO was honoured for its innovative use of movie footage and computer- generated animation. Demolition Man incorporates intense gameplay with scenes from the movie, as well as footage of Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes filmed especially for this interactive adventure. CNN Future Watch reporter Steve Baxter commented, “Finally, a game that’s better than the movie!
Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Super Street Fighter II Turbo, developed by Capcom for Panasonic Software Company, won the 1994 “Fighting Game of the Year” award from Die Hard Game Fan. The magazine describes this wildly successful arcade property now exclusively in the home on the 3DO platform as “the be-all, end-all perfect home translation of the ultimate arcade game.”
Road Rash 3DO
Road Rash for the 3DO system from Electronic Arts has received superior reviews since its introduction, including Die Hard Game Fan’s 1994 “Driving/Racing Game of the Year” award.
Road Rash was given the “Ultimate Award” in Game Players magazine’s November 1994 issue.
Other 3DO game awards
Other Die Hard Game Fan award-winning 3DO titles include True Golf Classics: Waialae Country Club from Panasonic Software Company, which was named 1994 “Golf Game of the Year”
NovaStorm from Psygnosis took the 1994 “Shooting Game of the Year” title.
Additionally, MegaRace from Mindscape for the 3DO system was given Game Players’ “Ultimate Award” in the January 1995 issue.
Twisted, a wacky spoof on TV game shows from Electronic Arts, was named “Best of What’s New” by Popular Science in its December 1994 cover story, “The Year’s 100 Greatest Achievements In Science & Technology”
