Basque Country 3DO Tournament

We got together as we usually do in the Santutxu neighbourhood of Bilbao (Basque Country), but this time we met at the bar called Aldaketa. We got together 6 players; 5 adults and my 6-year-old son who, like me, likes retro consoles.

Before playing the 3DO we played other consoles; TRS-80, MSX and Amstrad but we all wanted to try the 3DO and take that leap in quality. We took the console, and after turning it on we played 3 games; 3 of the 4 games I have now: Crash n’ burn, Rebel Assault and Slam ‘n Jam.

In the first, in Crash n’Burn, the goal was to finish first in a crazy race where rivals launch missiles at you and try to destroy you. In this game Unai was the best since he managed to finish the race and was third. Egoitz was second by placing third but failing to finish the race. He won the race who was in the best position regardless of whether he finished the race or not, but if he finished the race, he overtook his rival who, remaining in the same position as he, could not finish it.

Then we played Rebel Assault, the 3DO Star Wars game, a nice but difficult game at the same time. Only three of us participated and it cost us a lot to destroy the ships. Egoitz made the best score again, but Samuel was very close to him

Finally, we ended up playing Slam n’ Jam. Since we don’t have the controls, what we did was play a quarter of 2 minutes each player and the player who managed to score the most points earned more points for the final ranking. This time Daniel was the top scorer with 18 points and Lander followed with 15 points.

In the end Egoitz achieved more points than the others and won this Basque tournament, but Samuel or Dani did a good job. From now on we will try to play more at home to improve and we will try to get new games for II. Basque Tournament of 3DO that we hope to do in August of this year.
