On the 16th and 28th of February, Eusko Retro Asociacion organized the V. Basque Country 3DO Panasonic Tournament. We played this new 3DO Championship 6 month after the previous one. This time 6 players participated: Nuria Campo, Joseba Zubiaurre, Arrate Elorrieta, Lander Campo, Samuel Otero and Egoitz Campo.
On the first day we met in “Bar Jofer”, Bilbao (Basque Country), another day at my house; Derio (Basque Country), Lander hosted some matches for the tournament, and we played the last day at “Bar Almirante” in Bilbao (Basque Country).
It was a great tournament. However, next time we’ll try to bring new games. We played three games: Street Fighter II Turbo, Starblade and Pebble Golf Beach Links. We played Street Fighter II Turbo individually and at hardest level. Since we don’t have a second controller, we play individual matches. I’ll see if I can buy a second controller so that playing Street Fighter on the Panasonic 3DO is more fun. I’ll say this again, I love this game because it reminds me of when I was child and because of its excellent soundtrack and sound-effects, which are amazing. Egoitz got the best score in this game.
Then we played a new game; Starblade. A very good game graphically, where the objective is to destroy all the enemy crafts that were flying around us. Egoitz got more points than the rest, but Lander and Nuria played well.
Finally we put on a golf game called Pebble Golf Beach Links and and since we were short on time, we played just one hole. Egoitz managed to sink the ball with fewer strokes than Arrate and Nuria, so he got more points.
We had a great time over the three days. I really like the 3DO, so I’ll keep practicing at home and, if all goes well, organizing Basque championships. I’ll try to encourage more people to play and, above all, introduce new games like Need for Speed or Mortal Kombat 2.
